Project Description
Work for this Project includes the rehabilitation of an existing alluvial well that is approximately thirty feet (30’) deep with a four foot (4’) diameter concrete casing pipe. The well rehabilitation will need to be completed by a licensed well installer registered with the State of Colorado. The well will be installed with a ten foot (10’), twenty-four inch (24”) diameter stainless steel screen; fifteen foot (15’), twenty-four inch (24”) diameter steel casing pipe; and a twenty-four inch (24”) diameter pitless well assembly at the surface. The annulus of the well will be filled with a gravel pack, a sand and bentonite plug, and grout per the state of Colorado well construction requirements. Upon completion of the well rehabilitation, a step test will be performed to verify the well’s capacity and to confirm that the specified stainless steel pump and motor is sized correctly prior to installation. Work will also include the construction of a concrete vault built below grade and adjacent to the well for a flow meter to measure flow pumped from the well. The vault will include check and control valves for the pump operation. The piping will continue a short distance past the vault and tie into an existing pipeline. The well will have level control probes to operate the motor for a specified range of water elevations and a pressure transducer to measure water surface elevations. A data logger will be located in an existing pump station building and will record the water surface elevations and the flow meter readings while the well is in operation. Electrical supply will come from the existing pump station building and will provide power for the pump motor, well level control probes, pressure transducer, flow meter, and additional vault power requirements. The Engineer’s approximate estimate for construction is $200,000.00.
