Summary of Specifications:
Thornton is requesting proposals from firms interested in entering into a power purchase agreement with Thornton. Thornton will entertain proposals whereby the firm will design solar or wind power systems, install the systems on certain Thornton owned facilities or property, finance, operate, and maintain the systems for a set period of time. Thornton will also entertain proposals for purchasing power from systems remotely located on other property as part of a community renewable energy project. The power generated will be sold to Thornton at rates lower than commercially available through the local power utility company provider. The selected firm shall be required to pay Thornton an annual license fee per installed kW for use of Thornton’s owned sites. The initial contract term will be for twenty (20) years; however for systems installed on Thornton facilities or property Thornton shall have the option but not the obligation to purchase the renewable energy system(s), in part or in whole, at the conclusion of the first five (5) years and then annually thereafter, based on an agreed upon depreciated value of the system(s) components.
