The Green Star Schools® program builds on and adds to the Eco‐Cycle School Recycling and Environmental Education Program. The Green Star Schools program introduces compost
collection to schools, expands recycling opportunities, and puts a strong emphasis on waste reduction activities. This project is key to helping create environmentally literate graduates in
Boulder County, Colorado. There are now 16 Green Star Schools in Longmont and 22 in the St. Vrain Valley School District.
