Description

The City seeks a contract with a reliable, experienced, and qualified CPA with municipal audit experience in the State of Colorado to provide auditing services in a comprehensive, timely, and efficient manner. The scope of work for the contractor includes, but is not necessarily limited to, the following:

Audit the general-purpose financial statements of the City and ERA in accordance with the generally accepted auditing standards.
Assist the City by drafting the financial statements, including notes.
Review the MD&A prepared by the City.
Provide an audit opinion concerning the City's and ERA's financial statements.
Evaluate and test the City's internal controls and provide recommendations to City Council regarding the same.
Complete the 2022 and 2023 audit by September 30, 2024; and the 2024 audit by September of 2025. The vendor may request an alternate schedule for consideration.
Attend a meeting of the City Council and ERA Board, if requested, to discuss the audit and financial statements.
Provide an electronic copy of the final audit.

City staff will provide financial data as necessary for the contractor's work, including typical "prepared by client" account reconciliation schedules and supporting documentation. They will be available for interim reviews, meetings, and questions during the audit. The City will provide necessary detailed trial balances and supporting schedules. The City expects that the auditing contract will be for three audits, renewed in 2025 for the 2024 Audit.
