Summary of Specifications:
The attached document describes the minimum specifications necessary to meet the City of Durango’s needs for mid-size paratransit vehicles with a metal superstructure and aluminum panel or fiberglass construction.
The City of Durango intends to purchase one 2007 or 2008 standard production vehicle from a manufacturer with successful experience in producing the size and type of vehicle specified for the application intended. The vehicles shall be constructed in such a manner as to provide standup entry and headroom, seating for adult passengers, and have provisions for wheelchair space(s), lift and tie downs. All body, floor and roof joints must be tightly sealed to eliminate drafts and water leaks. The vehicles shall provide maximum passenger appeal in appearance, comfort and safety, combined with excellence in reliability, operating characteristics and economy of operation. Vehicles shall be capable of seating a maximum of (8) adult, ambulatory passengers and (2) wheelchairs, or 10 ambulatory adults if no wheelchairs are present (21’ body). Each vehicle will be capable of meeting all ADA and FMVSS requirements relative to light commercial vehicles
The bus shall operate with a gasoline fueled engine, which meets or exceeds the standards set by the Federal and State Clean Air Laws and an externally cooled automatic transmission.
The bus will afford features essential for safe, efficient and comfortable operation by the operator. This implies the utmost in road and traffic visibility under all driving conditions and adequate means for safe passenger movements. The vehicle must be able to be maneuvered safely and easily in normal and heavy traffic conditions.
