R23-010KK - Traffic Management System Expansion & Intersection Control Upgrades

The traffic industry as a whole has come to the threshold of a new paradigm of traffic management.  New detection technologies that can perceive and track multi-modal traffic in and around intersections, connected vehicles that can interact with the infrastructure around them, and autonomous vehicles that benefit from high perception infrastructure all provide opportunities for significant improvements in signalized intersection safety and efficiency. 
The City intends to continue supporting its existing traffic management system along with all of its infrastructure.  In addition, the City seeks to integrate new traffic control hardware, and embrace emerging safety and efficiency opportunities available through new detection technologies and connected/autonomous vehicles.
