IFB 5790A - Large Valve Rehabilitation - Task 2

This project consists of replacing isolation valves on a 27-inch water transmission main in Peoria Street from 6th Ave south to Harvard Ave. There are four sites included in this project. The first site is at Harvard Ave and Peoria St and the second site is at Exposition Ave and Peoria St. At each of these locations we will be installing a new valve to allow for operation flexibility, better isolation in the event of a line break, and safer access for Operation crews. The third site is at Alameda Ave and Peoria St. where we will be removing an obsolete and non-functioning isolation
valve. The fourth and final site is at 6th Ave and Peoria St. where we will be replacing three existing leaking valves and a deteriorated vault structure. The current structure is not water tight and is constantly flooded with groundwater. The new system will be watertight, allow for safer Operation access, and reliable isolation of the system. The large valve rehabilitation program is a bi-annual program for rehabilitating valves on Aurora’s critical infrastructure. Replacing leaking and non-functioning valves reduces the risk of large water outages if a line were to break or if a line needed to be isolated. Through discussions with operations and reviewing maintenance reports, Project Delivery Services developed a list of four valves for replacement along the Peoria St from 6th Ave south to Harvard Ave.
