The Chaffee County Planning & Zoning Department is soliciting proposals for a contract Field Programs Coordinator (“Coordinator”) to plan and administer existing and future Chaffee Rec Adopters (“Rec Adopters”) field programs, including stewardship projects and clean-up events on public lands within Chaffee County in collaboration with land management agencies, other contractors, and volunteers, supporting stewardship activities and data collection on recreational use impacts and mitigation efforts related to outdoor recreation in Chaffee County. Coordinator, for purposes of this solicitation, may mean an individual independent contractor or an organization.
Rec Adopters may consist of both volunteer groups and individuals. Rec Adopter activities may also include routine, independent, and unscheduled cleanup and patrol of adopted areas. Special events may be focused on public lands cleanup, restoration, and dispersed camping area improvement projects. Public outreach to ensure on-going program engagement and to recruit new volunteers is also expected. The Coordinator is expected to need to subcontract additional field leads and/or operators in order to fulfill the requirements of the Scope of Work (below), and responses should reflect the potential nature of such arrangements.
The Chaffee Rec Adopter field programs are supported by the County in direct alignment with the 2020 Chaffee County Comprehensive Plan, as stated within Goal 2.1: “Responsibly manage the County’s recreation opportunities across all jurisdictions to: A) Maintain quality of life and outdoor recreation experiences, B) Sustain recreation-based economic contribution, and C) Maintain healthy forests, waters, wildlife and working lands.”
