The Colorado Department of Corrections (CDOC) states herein its belief that John R Wald Company, Inc. is the sole supplier and distributor of EFI Thermal Ribbons and codes for Matan Printers. The Colorado Correctional Industries (CCI) a division of CDOC, currently owns and operates two (2) Matan Printers at their License Plate Production Plant. Matan printers are only compatible with EFI Thermal Ribbon and printer codes, the only authorized distributor for EFI products is John R Wald Company, Inc. per the source letter received from EFI/Matan Printer Company.
The Matan Printers owned by CCI are used in the digital manufacturing of licenses plates, this equipment is specifically coded and calibrated to meet our needs. Replacing the printers/machines to use another thermal ribbon system would impose significate financial burdens on CCI/CDOC. It could also contribute to a higher cost of production, lead to delays in fulfilling orders, and disrupt daily manufacturing operations at the License Plate Production Plant.
This Notice of Proposed Sole Source has been published to allow any prospective competitors or other interested parties to submit comments and/or an objection to the determination that John R Wald Company Inc, is the sole source from which to purchase the EFI Thermal Ribbon and codes for Matan Printers.
