RFP-MW- 2025.242 - Professional Engineering Services for the McKay Road Operational Improvements: 1

The project is along McKay Road, from 500 feet south of 96th Avenue to approximately 1,000 feet south of 104th Avenue, in western Adams County. The project is approximately 5,300 feet (1.0 mile) long and located within both unincorporated Adams County’s and the City of Thornton’s jurisdictions. A project location map is included in the appendices of the RFP.

The overall objectives of the project are to provide multimodal, operational, and safety improvements to McKay Road; improve the 96th and 100th Avenue intersections; provide a grade separated crossing for the Colorado Front Range Trail (trail underpass); replace the structurally and geometrically deficient vehicle bridge over the river; improve the floodplain within the vicinity of McKay Road, if possible; and improve the stormwater facilities.
