Through this competitive Request for Proposal (herein and after referred to as the “RFP”) process Adams County School District 14 (Bid Host) & Mapleton Public Schools, (herein and after referred to as the “District”), is seeking bids/proposals from an individual or a firm (herein and after referred to as the “Firm”) to provide Nutrition Services Milk and Dairy services for specified product in accordance with the scope of work specified in Section 6.The annual purchases between the two districts is approximately $310,000.00 of product for the food service department. This is an exclusive contract for the two school districts.
Adams County School District 14 (Bid Host) is located just north of downtown Denver, Adams County School District 14 serves the historic community of Commerce City, Colorado. The district serves an area with approximately 33,000 residents. There are 7 elementary schools, 2 middle schools, 2 high schools and 2 preschool centers. Total pupil count is approximately 6,800.
Mapleton Public Schools is one of the seven school districts in Adams County. Located at the heart of Denver’s two main transportation arteries, I-25 and I-70, Mapleton Public Schools covers 25-square miles of residential, industrial, agricultural and commercial property. The District serves nearly 8,700 students in 16 small-by-design schools, including an online K-12 school, Pre K models, K-6 models, K-8 models, K-12 models, one 7-12 model and 9-12 models.
This Request for Proposal (RFP) has been developed to seek bids from qualified vendors to furnish milk products for Nutrition Services. Additionally, the District would like to secure a secondary vendor for shelf stable milk, this vendor would be use for emergency stock or back up needs only, and no commitment to buy will be given on the shelf stable milk.
Nutrition Services’ mission is dedicated to providing all students a nutritious meal that supports the well-being of a healthy body and mind that supports a positive learning environment. We will serve high quality meals with outstanding customer service in a clean and pleasant environment. The District participates in the National School Lunch Program for reimbursement of meals that meet federal standards. USDA commodities have been allocated for use in school meals through the Food Distribution Program. In accordance with the federal Buy American Act, the District desires to purchase domestic milk products to the maximum extent practicable for school meals.
The daily consumption of milk between both districts is approximately 5,500 half-pints (3,200 Choc/skim, 2,100 1% and 100 skim). Weather causes some variance from day to day.
The scope of service is in effect for school year 2020-21 which begins on July 1, 2020 and ends on June 30, 2021.
