1920-045 - General Contractor- Gym Floor Resurfacing Basketball Hoop Replacement

Through this competitive Request for Proposal (herein and after referred to as the “RFP”) process Adams County School District 14, (herein and after referred to as the “District”), is seeking bids/proposals from an individual or a firm (herein and after referred to as the “Firm”) to resurface six gym floors (four wood, two poured), repaint court lines and install new basketball hoops in accordance with the scope of service specified in attached documents.

Funding for more than 90% of this project is through a grant by the Commerce City Parks & Recreation Department. Commerce City Parks & Recreation will be a part of every aspect of this project: evaluation, award, oversight of the work and payment.
 

1. Replace the current wall and ceiling-mounted backboards. (Wall pads will need to match each school’s colors.)
   1.  Height adjusters – All backboards shall be equipped with manually operated height adjusting backboard/rim equipment.
   2. Electric winches- All ceiling mounted backboards shall be equipped with equipped with electric powered winch equipment, operated by a push button or key operation system to raise and lower the backboard.
2. Refinish the 4 schools, wood floors to virgin wood. Recoat Dupont’s VCT floor and Central’s poured floor. (District prefers a Bona resilient poured floor, approved equivalent will be considered)
3. Reconfigure the game striping so that 3’ of space is created on all sides of each court to minimize running off the court and into the walls. (offer optional cost to insert school mascot within each floor)

• All installations shall be in accordance with safety code and shall also conform to all laws and codes governing such work. 
• Work should begin as project is awarded, all work schedules will be approved and coordinated with the building administrator, lead custodian and project manager before work is to begin.  All weekend, holiday and overtime work must be approved and scheduled by the project manager and building administrator before work begins. Work schedule and timeline to be coordinated through Adams 14 Operations department.
• Skilled tradesmen must perform the work.  The Contractor’s payroll employees under the Contractor’s immediate supervision must perform Work.  Work must be done in a manner to prevent splattering or spilling over finished surfaces.
• Contractor shall protect areas from construction damage.  Clean up the job site at the end of each day and at work completion.
• Contractor shall protect sensitive construction application materials from fire and theft.  All materials used shall be new products to represent a quality application in the finished product. 
• Cleanliness and congeniality are of the utmost importance when working around the District’s employees.  If there is a need for the Contractor’s tradespeople to address the District’s employees, it shall be done in a pleasant, business-like manner. 
• Inside air quality must not be compromised during construction without prior consent. The District’s Project Manager must be notified before any construction materials, or material byproducts, are introduced into the surrounding air. 
• Enter work area and remove all debris through the staff parking lot area.  Contractor will be responsible to remove all construction-related waste products from the work site and place in roll-off waste container. 
• Inspection of completed work will be performed by the District’s Project Manager before initial payment to the contractor is authorized and released.  Complete payment to the contractor of the retained amount withheld by the District will be released within 30 calendar days upon successful final inspection and approval by the District.
• Contractor to furnish all materials and equipment needed to complete work.
