Students must be transported to and from school regularly, promptly, safely and without interruption or adverse incidents. It shall be the primary obligation of the Contractor to conduct its activities so that students will be assured of continuous and reliable service; and that their interests shall take precedence over the interests of the Contractor, or its drivers. The District currently has needs for the following bus sizes: • Special Needs Buses: These buses shall be Type A and have a minimum rated passenger capacity of twenty (20) students. Special needs school buses shall be of such a design as to be able to access special needs students, when necessary, from their driveway, or on narrow roadways not normally accessible to larger conventional and transit-style school buses. • Wheelchair Buses: These buses shall have a minimum capacity of four (4) wheelchair positions and four (4) walk-on students (seated two to a seat). These buses must have air conditioning. • Transit Buses: These buses shall have a minimum capacity of seventy-two (72) students. • School Pupil Activity Bus (“SPAB”) Recliner Bus: These buses shall have a minimum capacity of 47 or more passengers. The District currently has needs for the following transportation services: • Special Needs Ambulatory Daily Service: As needed • Wheelchair Buses Daily Service: As needed • Intra-District Daily Routes: transit buses, minimum of capacity of seventy-two (72) students, as needed • Field Trips – Extra Curricular: Field trips may require a combination of vehicle types, including special needs buses, wheelchair buses, transit buses, transit buses with wheelchair stations and recliner buses on an as needed basis. The District makes no representation as to the size or scope of its transportation needs beyond the 2026- 2027 school year. There will be no penalties assessed against the District in connection with increases or decreases in numbers of buses contracted from year to year.
