The selected consultant will assist the City’s Code Compliance Officer in the enforcement of the Monterey City Code relating to violations at residential, commercial, and industrial properties, including but not limited to: public nuisances, zoning, occupancy, property maintenance, health and sanitation, building and safety, business licensing and permits, short term rentals, and noise abatement issues. The consultant will be responsible for responding to complaints of alleged violations, issuing notices of violations and citations, and inspecting for compliance; meeting with property owners and providing information on City ordinances to obtain compliance, maintaining records of inspections in the City’s online portal (Infor), writing letters, and preparing reports for the file and documentation. The consultant may also be required to attend citation appeal hearings and court proceedings.
