Specifications include, but are not limited to: a. Container Information All containers shall be rollable with steel wheels. All containers must have lid covers made of steel or double walled plastic (i.e. Dura flex or equivalent thereof) that are easily opened and closed. Any container located at a Conservation Camp site must also be bear proof. Containers and lids may not have excess metal on or inside which could be removed. All containers shall be sealed and liquid tight to prevent spillage and drippings. The State reserves the right to inspect containers to determine suitability prior to placement. Containers deemed unsuitable by CDCR shall be replaced with suitable containers within 24 hours of request from CDCR. b. Container Locking Devices The Contractor shall secure locking devices to all containers. The type of locking devices shall consist of a single lock bar extending the full width of the lid and lockable by padlock. The padlock will be supplied by the Institution. c. Container Location The Contractor shall deliver containers to the location indicated by the Institution three (3) days prior to the commencement of services or as agreed to by the Contract Liaison or designee. A location may be changed at any time at the discretion of CDCR. CDCR will provide twenty-four (24) hour notice to the Contractor of any location change. d. Container Unloading Any containers, which are to be emptied on-site, shall be emptied into a sealed truck, which is liquid tight to prevent spillage and drippings. All roll off containers shall be exchanged, empty for full, the full container sealed to prevent spillage and drippings, and removed in accordance with Exhibit A-1, Service Schedule and General Container Information. Any containers moved off-site to be emptied shall be immediately returned empty and ready for use. e. Container Maintenance The Contractor shall provide and maintain containers in good mechanical operating condition and free from graffiti and gang markings. In the event any container (which includes the lid, wheels, or locking device) becomes damaged, the Contractor shall, within forty-eight (48) hours of notification, repair or replace containers. The containers shall be steam cleaned monthly or more often as determined by the Contract Liaison or designee. The Contractor shall be required to paint containers annually or more/less often as determined by the Institution. Steam cleaning and painting shall not be performed on State property unless specifically requested by CDCR and shall be completed at the Contractor’s expense. The Contractor shall furnish additional containers on an exchange basis while the maintenance of the container is being performed.
