Specifications include, but are not limited to: I. General Notes: A. Existing basketball court is approximately~4,370 sq. ft. (46 ft. x 95 ft.). B. The court surface is bounded by concrete retaining walls on 2 sides, and by concrete curbs on the other sides. The court is enclosed by chain-link fencing on all sides, with 3 swing gate entrances. C. The basketball court is adjacent to a children’s playground. The two swing gates adjoining the playground must remain locked during construction. D. The contractor is to use extreme caution while driving vehicles in the park. Vehicles must drive on paved pathways only (not on turf) and must travel no faster than 5 MPH with all flashers illuminated. Additionally, at least one spotter shall walk alongside vehicles inside the park. E. Street parking is very limited. If street parking is needed, a temporary construction parking permit should be reserved in advance with SFMTA. (Permit orders take approximately 3 weeks to process.) F. Dust control measures must be implemented during all phases of construction. No dust is allowed to enter the adjacent children’s playground. If dust does enter the children’s play area, it must be cleaned prior to reopening this area of the park. II. Basketball Court Resurfacing (See Figure 1 at the end of solicitation): A. Place temporary construction fencing to close the Children’s Play Area adjacent to the basketball courts during demolition and asphalt laying activities. B. Remove existing asphalt, grind, and utilize for subbase as needed. 4” average thickness is assumed for existing asphalt (2” overlay over an older 2” overlay). C. Recompact existing subbase to a 95% relative compaction. Add levelling subbase as needed.
