Specifications include, but are not limited to: a) Operate in conjunction with the Community Release Project and in partnership with the Office of Pretrial Services and local organizations to support defendants in posting cash bail, making all required court appearances, avoiding re-arrest, and maintaining employment and community relationships during the pretrial phase. b) Collaborate with the Superior Court (Court) to ensure judges’ acceptance of the Community Bail Fund and negotiate reduced or waived court costs, fees, and fines for individuals whose bail is paid for by the Community Bail Fund. c) Work with the Office of Pretrial Services to develop participant eligibility criteria, accounting for the following considerations as appropriate: i. Specific charge types, such as low-level, nonviolent misdemeanors; ii. Family circumstances (e.g., new or single parents, parents of children with special needs, income and ability to pay); iii. Qualities creating a heightened risk of victimization in jail, such as LGBTQ status or former gang affiliation; iv. Special health needs, including pregnancy, mental illness, or chronic disease management; v. Job, school, or volunteer responsibilities; vi. Legal risks (e.g., eviction, loss of children, employment, social services, victimization); vii. General risk level, both from a public safety and court appearance perspective; and viii. Willingness to work with, or existing ties to, a community-based organization. d) Coordinate and work with the Office of Pretrial Services to ensure that potential clients are properly screened for participation. e) Review defendant files and conduct intake interviews to assess clients’ eligibility to be released on bail. f) Provide an in-depth orientation to potential clients, outlining program requirements, program expectations, client responsibilities, and supportive services offered.
