The Work of this Contract includes the construction of the Newell Creek Pipeline in the Brackney Landslide area in Felton, CA between Glen Arbor Road and Brackney Road. The Brackney Landslides Area Pipeline Risk Reduction project will relocated approximately 2,250 feet of the Newell Creek Pipeline to increase the resiliency and reliability of water supply from the Loch Lomond reservoir. The project area is at particular risk of geotechnical hazards with approximately 2,700 linear feet new 24-inch inside diameter (ID) carrier pipeline, including an approximately 1,685 foot long portion to be installed by horizontal directional drilling (HDD). HDD through deep bedrock formation was determined to be the most cost-effective method to avoid landslide hazards. The project will require new easements for realignment. Due to limited access and construction staging, the project will require close coordination with neighbors and other utility owners, and the County of Santa Cruz.
