W B: Approximately 227” Inches Undercarriage and frame shall be sprayed with an anticorrosion rust product. ENGINE: EMISSSION COMPLIANCE: Any unit offered must be compliant with Southern California Air Quality Management District (AQMD) Rule 1196, the "Fleet Rule". Rule 1196 allows our Department only the use of "Alternative fuels". For this solicitation the Department intends to procure a Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) powered unit. Any unit offered must also be certified for use in California by the California Air Resources Board (CARB). Please see ARB.gov and AQMD.gov for the text of the applicable rules. CHASSIS CONFIGURATION: Reference: Freightliner 114SD. The Chassis configuration must be a standard cab configuration. Two entry doors with cab steps and grab handles. Rear window. A horizontal exhaust with heat protection for the operators will minimize heat generation in off road and construction site operations. The exhaust system shall be coated with non-corrosive material. Note: Cab over configurations are not desired, for the on and off-road applications and duties performed by these units, in the service of the County, due to ride geometry, service access issues and undue loads imposed on the operators. The unit is to be equipped with a single rear axle with dual rear wheels. Seating and restraints must accommodate two (2) adults. Cab to Axle Dimension and Wheelbase: The CA and WB are to be expertly selected by the bidder to match the major components of the vehicle, as specified and equipped. No undue Cab to Axle dimension will be provided, except as required to accommodate the specified configuration and the chassis manufacturer's limitations with regard to exhaust or other required chassis systems. The shortest Cab to Axle (CA) is desired commensurate with water tank stability needs. The after-frame dimension is to be kept to a minimum to afford maximum tank stability and load distribution. The shortest practical wheel base (WB) is desired to afford the unit the minimum turning radius.
