The Public Health Laboratory Chemical Terrorism Response Unit is requesting an emergency purchase of a repair and a 12-month service preventive maintenance (PM) of the Peak generator NM2OZA CPP. This repair is critical to allow the SCIEX Qtrap 5500 LC/MS/MS System and corresponding system to function properly to perform testing using the protocols provided by the CDC LRN Chemical Terrorism program for the detection and analysis of liquid-phase trace organic and poisons of human serum and urine specimens, which requires a high-throughput capability provided by this system. The Public Health Chemical Terrorism Response Unit as a part of the Emergency Preparedness Programs of the County of Los Angeles is considered as one of the critical infrastructures of the program. The damaged equipment has caused delay in testing for patient samples and will further cause future delay until the equipment is repaired. If the repair is not approved in an expeditious manner, we risk losing funding from PHEP federal grants.
