A. Contractor shall remove all invasive species and dispose off-site per local county agriculture requirements within the Work Area Boundary. See Attachment 4, ONRM Invasive Weed List. If an unusual plant is observed, report to the Caltrans Contract Manager, and Caltrans’ Environmental staff – please see contact list in provided Redbook, which will be distributed at or before the kick-off meeting. Unless specified below, the following protocol shall be followed: cut seed heads and bag before cutting and bagging the rest of the plant. Care should be given to avoid dropping seeds heads onto soil. Bags should be securely tied and stored to prevent any accidental escaping. Routine cleaning of boots, tools, and vehicles shall occur to reduce the risk of invasive species spread. Removing dirt, mud, and plant debris from tires, undercarriages, and storage areas can prevent the unintentional transport of invasive species. B. Contractor shall remove dead, dying and diseased vegetation, except where some snags should be retained to provide wildlife shelter, dens, etc. under the direction of Caltrans’ District Environmental Staff or CSB. C. Contractor shall cut vegetation to a maximum of four inches (4”) above the bare mineral soil surface. D. Stump grinding is not permitted.
