Specifications include, but are not limited to: Contractor shall provide medical and other care, rehabilitation and release of native avian wildlife that are injured, sick or unable to care for themselves, as well other non-native avian species agreed upon, such as European starlings, that are transferred to Contractor by either (1) San Francisco residents, or (2) ACC. Contractor shall accept custody of all agreed species of birds, subject to space limitations at that facility and medical condition. Contractor shall notify the Department when it has space restrictions that limit the number of birds it can accept. For birds transferred by ACC, ACC shall provide initial triage before transporting the birds to Contractor’s facility. Triaging and screen is for determining if birds meet conditions for rehabilitation; those that do not meet agreed criteria for rehabilitation will be euthanized at ACC and not transferred for rehabilitation unless they are endangered species. Contractor shall treat and release, or if necessary euthanize, birds transferred to its custody and care under this Agreement. Contractor is responsible for releasing the birds, and may coordinate with or request assistance from ACC in the release process.
