The C0171 BSL-2 Teaching & Remote Work Lab project consists of renovations to a portion of a warm shell area (CO171) in Building C at the Westside Research Park. The project scope will result in the following; (A) a faculty research lab space consisting of biosafety level 1 and 2 environments, a dark room and vestibule, (B) a generic biomolecular engineering faculty space consisting of biosafety level 1 and 2 environments, and (C) a microscopy room with direct access to the corridor. The new interior spaces leverage existing operating source infrastructure equipment in the basement and fan deck. A new rooftop mounted exhausting system is required. Design-build scope of work modifications to the existing fire sprinkler and fire alarm system is required to provide coverage to the project area per applicable codes and project specifications. The design is optimized to maximize interactions and collaborations with the adjacent autoclave room and Colligan Diagnostic Lab positioned off the main corridor. Removal of barriers to accessibility within the existing facility as identified on the plans and specifications are also required to be completed with the lab renovations.
