A. Participants and Service Area Target Population Programs must recruit and serve youth and young adults, with an emphasis on individuals from communities underrepresented in Park District careers, including but not limited to opportunity youth. Geographic Scope All programs must serve participants who reside in Alameda and/or Contra Costa counties. Training and service activities must occur within East Bay Regional Park District parks or facilities. B. Program Requirements Core Program Requirements To be considered, all proposed programs must include the following elements: • Recruitment of participants from priority populations • Paid, supervised hands-on experiences in parks, natural areas or other relevant work settings • Skill-building activities relevant to Park District careers • Basic supervision, training, and project oversight of program participants • Provision of equipment necessary to ensure safe and effective training (e.g., appropriate safety gear, commonly used tools for field-based learning activities, and technology resources) • Coordination with Park District staff • Compliance with applicable safety, risk management, and legal standards (e.g., worker’s comp coverage, OSHA compliance, and appropriate supervision ratios)
