In general, the work consists of, but is not limited to, drilling a new ±1,600-foot municipal water supply well for the City of Santa Maria Utilities Department, to be known as Well No. 15. The well casing consists of approximately 460 feet of 22-inch diameter blank upper casing and 1,120 feet of 16-inch perforated casing with alternating blank casing segments. Well No. 15 will be drilled in existing farm fields approximately 1,800 southeast of existing Well No. 14. The ultimate design capacity of the new well is anticipated to be approximately 2,300 gallons per minute (gpm). The work includes drilling a pilot hole up the anticipated depths, geophysical logging, reaming the upper and lower pilot borehole to the planned diameters, geophysical and borehole logging, constructing casings and screens, constructing filter pack, placing grout seals, well development, various testing, such as zone isolation, well capacity, water quality, borehole plumbness and alignment, sand and other, and all other work as identified in the Plans and Specifications. The well equipping efforts are to be complete as a separate construction contract.
