Specifications include, but are not limited to: The City of Santa Monica has a long history of offering a vast array of programming aimed at improving the well-being of youth and the community at large. Formed in 2011, Santa Monica's Cradle to Career (smC2C) initiative utilizes partnerships with public and private agencies to advance the goal of ensuring every child in the community has the ability to thrive. During the pandemic many youth fell behind academically and socially. As we emerge from the pandemic, the City requires strong out-of-school time offerings for youth to regain their academic levels and engage in enriching classes with their peers. Enrichment classes are an integral part of the programming for all ages at Virginia Avenue Park (VAP). The Artist in Residence enrichment program at VAP promotes learning through exposure to the arts, music, technology and more. Enrichment programs encourage creativity, critical thinking, and promote confidence. Contractors conduct classes during out-of-school time, Monday through Friday, at facilities located at Virginia Avenue Park. Instructors will provide enrichment classes for up to four sessions (summer, fall, winter, spring) throughout the 2023-24 school year. Classes meet once per week for 8 to 10 weeks per session. Program instructors are referred to as "Artists in Residence".
