Veterinarians will provide general medical care for shelter animals, including but not limited to: • Wellness exams and vaccinations • Parasite control (fleas, ticks, worms) • Diagnosis and treatment of common illnesses or injuries • Routine soft tissue surgeries (spay/neuter, wound repair) • Dental cleanings and minor extractions • Radio graphic and laboratory diagnostics; Scope 2: Specialty Veterinary Practice Board-certified or highly specialized veterinary services are needed for complex or referred cases. Areas of specialty may include, but are not limited to: • Internal Medicine • Orthopedic or Complex Surgery • Cardiology, Neurology, Dermatology, and Ophthalmology • Dentistry (advanced procedures) • Radiology (CT, MRI, ultrasound) • Exotic animal medicine • Emergency/critical care; Scope 3: High-Volume Spay/Neuter (HVSN) Providers must be experienced in High-Quality, High-Volume Spay/Neuter (HQHVSN) protocols, including: • Performing large numbers of sterilization surgeries efficiently • Adhering to strict anesthesia, surgical, and recovery protocols • Providing mobile or on-site sterilization clinics • Ensuring humane care and compliance with shelter medicine standards
