The Parks Department owns and operates a wide variety of underground utility assets within its portfolio. These include any item buried or placed below the ground for use in connection with the storage or conveyance of electric energy, water, sewage, telecommunications, storm water, or other substance including, but not limited to, pipes, sewers, conduits, cables, valves, lines, wires, manholes, attachments and those parts of poles or anchors below ground. These assets are subject to ongoing maintenance, repair, rehabilitation, and replacement. Their continued management requires field identification of existing and new underground systems. The Parks Department has embarked on an effort to field identify these assets and create a registry incorporated into a GIS database.
