This project aims to complete pre-development activities for The Plant Food and Agriculture Innovation Center in the Capital Region, which over 30 years is conservatively estimated to drive commercialization of over 500 companies,100,000 jobs and attract over $4B in capital investment. Led by UC ANR, in collaboration with industry leaders, academic institutions, and community stakeholders, The Plant seeks to drive innovation, commercialization, and workforce development in agriculture, food systems, and climate resilience to promote quality job growth throughout the region. By integrating technology development, entrepreneurship, manufacturing, and advanced research, The Plant will serve as a regional catalyst for sustainable and inclusive economic growth. The Plant will be a globally unique facility, attracting leading food, agriculture, biotechnology, and AI companies to collaborate with regional food and agriculture enterprises, research universities, and the technology sector.
