The Office of Quality, Outcomes and Training Division- Training Unit seeks to offer DMH and DMH legal entity/contracted staff a total of three trainings. Two, which are titled Creating Occupational Resiliency: Implementing Self-Care Strategies to Prevent Secondary Traumatization While Working in the Behavioral Health Field – one for Line Staff and the second one for Supervisors/Managers. The third training, Diving Deeper: Applying the Basic Concepts of Occupational Resiliency Training Teams and Systems to Create a Stronger More Productive Organization will be for Line Staff as well as Supervisors and Managers. These trainings, targeted to line staff and supervisor/managers, will provide a basic understanding of the secondary traumatization risk factors associated with working in large behavioral health delivery systems. Participants will be offered a review of recent literature and research on the field of burnout, vicarious trauma, secondary trauma, compassion fatigue, and resiliency on all levels, including individuals, systems, and cultures. Participants will also be offered basic skills to utilize in evaluating the presence of these risk factors in jobs, colleagues, and themselves. Both the literature review and the skill-based learning will be delivered through the lens of compassion fatigue in juxtaposition to occupational resiliency.
