Contractor shall perform the most definitive testing on all specimens submitted by DSH CONREP providers. This shall entail using enzyme immunoassay (EIA) or Liquid Chromatography with Tandem Mass Spectrometry (LC-MS/MS) when performing the specimen analysis. The LC-MS/MS shall be performed on all specimens, as ordered on a test requisition form. The LC-MS/MS method: a) Allows for a lower sample volume for testing, requiring an amount of only 2 mL of urine or 1mL of oral fluid b) Uses a series of discrete, sequential analytical steps combined in one instrument system that specifically identifies drugs by their unique chemical properties. LCMS/MS uses a liquid chromatographic separation that when combined with a two-stage mass fragmentation process results in a highly definitive and accurate analytical system c) Provides the ability to identify several drugs and drug classes simultaneously resulting in a more accurate assessment of the drug usage...
