• Work with the City Council, the City Manager, the Deputy City Manager, and other key City staff to establish legislative and policy goals, objectives, opportunities, and priorities. • Support a positive relationship with the State Legislature, Governor's Office, and state administrative agencies to advance the City's priorities. • Identify and monitor legislation and state regulatory processes, including pertinent administrative, legislative, and regulatory matters that may affect the City. • Represent the City by providing legislative and regulatory advocacy, as needed. • Engage key officials (executive, legislative, local government) and relevant stakeholders to support the City’s objectives to secure permits, grants, incentives, and favorable laws and regulations. • Identify funding opportunities for City priorities and pursue increased state funding for the City. • Coordinate meetings with Legislators and agency department leaders to provide the City the opportunity to meet face-to-face with key decision-makers on pertinent City issues. • Assist with communications and messaging to make compelling arguments to state leaders regarding City objectives. • Provide regular updates on the political landscape in the State Capitol to help provide context for the City as well as to identify opportunities and potential challenges. • Assist in drafting legislation, amendments, and correspondence to the Legislature and Administration.
