The City of Redlands (City) acquired an abandoned commercial building for the purpose of demolishing for new construction. The proposed project consists of the construction of a new City of Redlands Police Department Safety Hall Facility (Facility). The proposed project is planned on an existing 8-acre property that is currently occupied by an abandoned Kmart shopping center, including paved parking and driveways. The proposed Facility will be one-story above grade, with the lowest floor at or near the existing site elevations (no basements are planned). The proposed structure will be of concrete, steel, and wood construction, with a total footprint of approximately 96,000 square feet. Due to the preliminary nature of the plans, it is not possible to determine the extent of special inspections that will be required during construction. Therefore, assumptions are made below regarding the extent of the inspections. It is the City’s intent to select a highly qualified firm capable of providing special inspection and testing during the construction of the Redlands Police Department Safety Hall Project.
