Product Specifications: Snow chains parts and components must meet or exceed the mandatory requirements as shown below. I. Snow chain parts and components must meet or exceed all the latest requirements of the National Association of Chain Manufacturers (NACM) www.nacm.info. a) All chains shall: 1. Be zinc plated surface finish for corrosion protection with minimum thickness of 5 micrometers. 2. Have a minimum surface hardness of 62 HRC. 3. Have a minimum core hardness of 49 HRC. 4. Have a minimum case hardness of 61 HRC. 5. Have a minimum case hardening minimum depth of 6% (six percent) from link surface. 6. Be reversable and repairable and shall have repair links available that are consistent in wire size, link size, shape, and quality with the links of original chains with a deviation tolerance of +/- 0.3%. 7. Chain links must be nickel manganese alloy or equivalent. 8. Chain link must be equipped with cam lock feature, unless otherwise specified. 9. Link cross chains must be high strength alloy steel. 10. Be packaged no more than 1(one) set per bag or box with dimension tag and mounting instructions. 11. Be delivered on shrink wrapped pallets. Pallets will not be returned to vendor and any pallet core charge will be the responsibility of the vendor. 12. All cross chains must be packaged no more than 50 (fifty) per bag or box. 13. The chain tread links square section shall be of a minimum thickness of 7mm. 14. The side chain inside and outside shall be of minimum thickness of 6mm. 15. The minimum breaking stress of the tread net parts shall be 300N/mm2. All other power transmitting parts have a minimum breaking stress of 200N/mm2. Connecting parts outside of the tread net resist a stress 80N/mm2. 16. Fitting shall be throw-over style. 17. Cams shall be required on zigzag chains. 18. Cams are not required for Grader and Loader chains but will be accepted with or without. II. Vendor must be ISO 9001 and ISO 14001 certified and shall provide proof of certification from manufacturer with bid. III. Vendor shall provide a product specification sheet with bid.
