Objectives SCAG seeks to develop a comprehensive Smart Cities Strategic Plan that includes establishing strategic direction, engaging stakeholders, identifying key challenges and opportunities, setting goals, creating key strategy and policy recommendations, and establishing mechanisms for monitoring and evaluation. The Smart Cities Strategic Plan will support a more connected region by advancing SCAG's efforts in smart technology integration, transit and multi-modal integration, clean transportation, and broadband. The planning process shall be led by a Technical Advisory Committee (TAC), to be established as a part of this scope of work. SCAG aims to define what “Smart Cities” means within the regional context and establish strategies and policies that align with Connect SoCal 2024, the January 2021 Climate Action Resolution, and the April 2024 Southern California Clean Cities Strategic Plan. The Scope of Work has several critical objectives which include: • The evaluation of emerging technologies, current trends, and research • Establishment and management of a Technical Advisory Committee • Recommendations for partnerships, policies, and actionable next steps • Alignment with SCAG’s long-term planning objectives and strategies
