A. Contractor shall replace the septic tank, including leach fields, sewer pumps, sewer lines, and related structures such as manholes, culverts, and catch basins. B. Contractor shall remove, haul away, and legally dispose of the existing septic tank system, including performing a final pump prior to excavation and disposal. C. Contractor shall perform all necessary trenching work, including soil testing. D. Contractor shall provide and install 1,600 square feet (sq. ft.) leach field, no deeper than 42 inches (in.) below grade. E. Contractor shall ensure that all pipe connections and pipe penetrations are watertight. F. Contractor shall obtain all applicable licenses and permits for the work to be done pursuant to this Agreement. Contractor shall obtain a Minor Septic Repair permit through Tuolumne utilities district prior to initiating work. Contractor shall provide copies of licenses and permits to Caltrans Contract Manager, and shall comply with all applicable laws, regulations, standards, and policies in the performance of the work done pursuant to this Agreement. G. Contractor shall ensure that the materials used in replacing the septic tank system are the same or equivalent to the following, and shall perform the following additional services: 1) Provide and install one (1) new 1,500-gallon, dual compartment, fiberglass septic tank system. 2) Sewer Pipe a. General i. Sewer pipe shall be new, unused material of the size and type in kind, and shall conform to the requirements listed in this scope of work. ii. Pipe, materials, and accessories of reputable manufacturers engaged in the manufacturing of the items. Caltrans Contract Manager will have the final approval of a pipe manufacturer. iii. References to the American Society for Testing Materials (ASTM) shall be located at https://www.astm.org. b. PVC Sewer Pipe i. PVC sanitary sewer pipe 15 inches in diameter and smaller shall meet the requirements of American Society for Testing and Materials (ASTM) Designation D3034 (latest edition), Type PSM Polyvinyl Chloride (PVC) Sewer Pipe and Fittings.
