DB Contractor shall provide all labor, materials, equipment, tools, transportation, insurance, and logistical services to support work associated with the build out of two (2) prefabricated container homes located on the Santa Cruz Island in the Channel Islands chain approximately twenty-two (22) miles off the coast of Santa Barbara. The container homes have been placed and will serve as staff accommodations at the University’s field station site on Santa Cruz Island. Contractor shall provide build out of the container homes, as specified in the University Construction Documents. Trade work includes electrical, plumbing, drywall and other trades necessary for build out of the container homes, tie-in to utilities, and fit out of the two (2), two-bedroom, two-bathroom, insulated, factory-fabricated container residences. The contractor’s personnel will travel to Santa Cruz Island via boat and then travel overland to the construction site. The successful Contractor will be provided limited access to field station dorms, which include a kitchen (food not provided), bathrooms and sleeping accommodations at no cost to Contractor. The bridging documents developed by the University-hired design professional have been used in the formulation of a cost estimate to establish a projected range for the estimated construction cost relative to the University’s project goals. The successful proposer will be contracted to complete the final design and construct the build out based on the design criteria described within the Request for Proposals that will be issued by the University to prequalified contractors.
