With few exceptions, all salvage stock will be 12kV primary with pole tops rated 120/240V secondary and pad mounts 120/208V or 277/480V. Most will be single phase. A majority are oil filled. The City averages approximately 150-175 salvage units per year, the majority of which are pole tops, between 10-167 KVA and pads, between 50-250 KVA. The City anticipates 3 to 4 pickups per year, depending on storm damage events and reconstruction work. All units for salvage will be considered non-PCB under federal transportation guidelines (less than 50ppm PCB). More than 90% of the units will be less than 5ppm PCB. The City will not include any units that contain greater than 45ppm PCB for the sake of any concerns over accuracy of our lab tests which are performed by a City approved oil test lab.
