(1). Remove and dispose of the existing asbestos containing built-up roof system and associated material as per the Asbestos Report. (2). After removal of asbestos, test for levels of asbestos on the roof area and provide asbestos clearance test that shall meet state requirements. (3). Demolish existing built-up roofing system. (4). Inspect roof sheathing and framing for damage. (5). Install new PVC roofing system. (6). Replace existing gutter system. (7). Repaint roofing components as needed to return to pre-construction condition. (8). Maintain watertight building throughout construction. (9). Clear existing roof drains and overflows of debris. (10). Dispose of all removed materials off-site at no additional expense to the DMV. B. ASBESTOS ABATEMENT SPECIFICATIONS (1). GENERAL CONDITIONS a. Summary of Work: 1. The Contractor shall abate all non-friable asbestos containing (roofing) material per specifications and regulatory requirements. 2. Any abatement work exceeding 160 square feet, including roof work, shall have specs reviewed and approved by a Certified Asbestos Consultant. 3. The Contractor shall notify the local Air Management District at least ten (10) days before commencement of work. The Department of Motor Vehicles will provide a separate consultant (Certified Industrial Hygienist) monitoring the work. According to NESHAP - {40 CFR Section 61.145 (c)(8)}, at least one (1) on-site supervisor trained in the provisions of NESHAP shall be present during removal of asbestos containing roofing material. In EPA's view, this person can be a job foreman, a hired CIH, or a trained representative of the Contractor or building owner. (2). REGULATORY REQUIREMENTS AND REFERENCES a.
