Specifications include, but are not limited to: A. INTENT It is the intent of these specifications, terms, and conditions to describe the Respiratory Syncytial Virus (RSV) Vaccine being requested by the County. The County intends to award a one-year contract (with the option to renew for four years) to the Bidder selected as the lowest responsive and responsible Bidders whose response meets the County's requirements. B. SCOPE/BACKGROUND The Alameda County Public Health Department’s (ACPHD) Division of Communicable Disease Control and Prevention Immunization Program (DCDP) assists adults and children in receiving all the necessary immunizations to protect them against vaccine-preventable diseases. Vaccinations will keep Alameda County residents healthy, more resilient, and thriving through the fall and winter seasons and to minimize illness and hospitalization. In May 2023, the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) approved two Respiratory Syncytial Virus (RSV) vaccines for adults ages 60 and over to prevent RSV-related lower respiratory tract disease. The demand for the vaccine is high, especially among adults 60 and over who reside in congregate settings. The vaccine is not easily accessible for many of our County residents due to challenges with insurance coverage and the cost of the vaccines. ACPHD DCDP is seeking a Contractor to purchase the vaccines to be made available to mitigate the growing gap of unvaccinated Alameda County residents via community clinics, health fairs/events, small Long Term Care Facilities (LTCF), and Public Health (PH)-run vaccine clinics.
