Specifications include, but are not limited to: The City of Carlsbad Parks & Recreation Department (hereinafter referred to as the “City”) is seeking competitive proposals from qualified and experienced race event management businesses (hereinafter referred to as “Vendor”) to provide professional race management services for the Carlsbad Triathlon. The selected business will manage all aspects of the Carlsbad Triathlon, including all labor, materials, personnel and equipment needed to provide race timing and event services to support the Carlsbad Triathlon. All interested and qualified race event management businesses are encouraged to submit sealed proposals for the purpose of providing the City with race event management services in accordance with the terms, conditions and specifications as set out in this RFP. Competitive negotiation will be used to select the Vendor. Price shall be considered, but need not be the sole determining factor. • Provide an opportunity for the Carlsbad community to participate in a safe, competitive and fun family event while promoting healthy living. • Provide an event that is challenging and fun for the experienced athletes and a friendly, supportive environment for novices. • Bring a sense of belonging, ownership and common purpose for the people who live, work and play in Carlsbad by providing a combination of a cutting-edge event, outstanding customer service, sophisticated event planning and innovative activities. • Increased outreach and integration of the Carlsbad community into the event. • Enhance collaboration with other community organizations. • Promote the best qualities of the Carlsbad community. • Encourage youth and family participation that may possibly strengthen the social foundations of our community. • Participants and community feels event quality and service has been sustained or improved from past years. • Promote alternative modes and healthy lifestyle. • Create a value-driven, fun experience for residents and visitors. • Produce a race that covers all costs with race revenue.
