Description of Fall Protection Competent Person Refresher Training The classroom training curriculum must include a comprehensive overview of the following: Classroom portion (8 hours): • Trigger Heights • Anchor Systems • Working on slopes • Emergency and rescue • Fall Arrest/Restraint Systems • Equipment selection, use, and inspection • Job Safety Analysis and Fall Protection Safety Plans • Onsite practical application field exercises • Cal/OSHA Fall Protection Program Requirements • Scaffolds, Aerial Lifts, Work Platforms, Stairways, and Ladders • Guidelines for how to recognize fall hazards and how to avoid them. • The use and operation of guardrail systems, personal fall arrest systems, fall restraint systems, work positioning systems, safety net systems, warning line systems, safety monitoring systems, controlled access zone, and other protection to be used. • The correct procedures for selecting, erecting, maintaining, disassembling, and inspection the fall protection systems to be used. • The limitations of equipment and systems mentioned above. 4. Description of Fall Protection Competent Person Refresher Training (continued) • The role of each employee in the safety monitoring system when this type of system is used. • The correct procedures for the handling and storage of equipment and materials and the erection of overhead protection. • The role of employees in fall protection plans. • The standards contained in Cal/OSHA Title 8 CCR Section 1669-1671.2 and related regulations. • Written exam not to exceed 20 minutes to verify employee's understanding of the material.
