The County of San Diego Department of Parks and Recreation (County) requires assistance with the maintenance of landscape areas at the County Administration Center (CAC) Waterfront Park. This work will require the contractor to provide the labor, equipment, and/or materials for maintenance of the described areas below: 1.1 LAWNS: 1.1.1 Waterfront Park has over 210,000 square feet (SF) of lawn, primarily the Civic Greens west of the County Administration Center (CAC). 1.2 GARDENS, DECORATIVE AND ORNAMENTAL PLANTS: 1.2.1 Waterfront Park has approximately 25,000 SF of horticultural gardens, including the Active Recreation gardens in the north and the Family Area gardens along Pacific Highway in the south. 1.3 CAC HISTORIC BORDER PLANTINGS: 1.3.1 Historic foundation plantings create a perennial and shrub border along the northeast, east, and southeast edges of the CAC building, within the East Plaza and surrounding the Guardian of Water Plaza (the West Plaza). The Senegal Palm clusters are also part of this “historic template.” These plantings are considered culturally significant. 1.4 CAC LINEAR MONOCULTURE PLANTINGS: 1.4.1 Linear monoculture plantings frame the West Terrace, the north/south CAC entrances, and help retain the sloped landform edge along Pacific Highway, Grape and Ash Streets. Plantings surrounding the CAC building and the West Terrace are intended to be informal green borders (not formal hedges) that act as buffers between paved areas and the CAC building.
