Specifications include, but are not limited to: 1. Program Category 1: TAY Leaders in Behavioral Health – Certificate Program. BHS is looking for vendors to manage the TAY Leaders in Behavioral Health - Certificate Program for systems involving TAY ages 16-24+. The TAY Leaders in Behavioral Health Certificate Program trains and prepares TAY, ages 16-24+ as TAY Peers in the basic skills and knowledge for entry-level employment in the behavioral health field. This Certificate Program is a pipeline program into the TAY Leaders in Behavioral Health - Employment Program. Close collaboration and coordination is required between the Certificate and Employment programs in order to ensure access, share best practices and leverage resources. [“TAY Peers” are defined as Transitional Age Youth (aged 16-24+) who may be current or former consumers of mental health and/or substance abuse/misuse services and/or care.] a. Target Population: This program serves all ethnicities and populations in San Francisco with focused attention on the unique cultural needs of TAY who are under-served and/or under-represented in San Francisco BHS systems, including African Americans, Asian/Pacific Islanders, Latinos/as/x, Native Americans/Indigenous People(s), and Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, and Queer (LGBTQ+) TAY, as well as TAY served by or who have accessed DPH Behavioral Health TAY System of Care services. b. The Certificate Program will provide educational courses and knowledge on the continuum of behavioral health issues, services, and resources, as well as develop skillsets in outreach and engagement, systems navigation, and peer counseling, and including information about related four-year colleges and universities. This program shall include: i. Preparing TAY with the skills and knowledge needed for entry-level employment in the field of behavioral health engagement, outreach, systems navigation, and peer counseling; ii. Providing TAY with academic/career planning that supports successful transitions into institutions of higher learning. iii. Offering graduates the opportunity to progress to one of the internship or employment placements available through the TAY Leaders in Behavioral Health - Employment program. c. Funding for this program may be used to support work to develop new adaptations from existing training program(s) and/or expand additional cohorts to allow for more TAY to participate. Providers are encouraged to be creative to leverage existing resources, utilize current trends in the field, and provide the most up-to-date knowledge of the behavioral health industry. 2. Program Category 2: TAY Leaders in Behavioral Health – Employment Program BHS is looking for vendors to manage the TAY Leaders in Behavioral Health – Employment Program for systems involving TAY ages 16-24+. This program provides TAY exposure and entry to behavioral health services employment and provides coordinated and collaborative employment-related support for TAY.
