Specifications include, but are not limited to: The Metropolitan Biosolids Center (MBC) is the City’s regional biosolids facility that receives and processes solids from both the North City Water Reclamation Plant (NCWRP) and the Point Loma Wastewater Treatment Plant. The NCWRP will undergo an expansion under Phase 1 of the Pure Water Program, increasing biosolids flows and loadings to MBC. To accommodate these increased loadings, upgrades and improvements at MBC will be necessary. Equipment replacements are also recommended due to the age and condition of existing equipment. Improvements will be made to the following process areas: grit removal, biosolids thickening and dewatering, anaerobic digestion, biogas handling and centrate pump station.
