The project scope is the removal of the 235-foot-long existing debris deflector, repairing and then replacing the existing debris deflector to allow for the appropriate diversion of river debris and increased boater safety. The debris deflector has failed and is currently submerged below the water line of the Sacramento River. Debris such as trees and other organic matter are passing though the failed deflector or becoming waterlogged creating hazards for boaters. The debris boom consists of two 24-inch diameter high density polyethylene (HDPE) pipes stacked on top of each other and connected perpendicular to the steel pipe piles. The upper pipe is foam filled for floatation while the bottom pipe is open and intended to act as a ballast. The pipes are separated into six (6) 40-foot sections, with each section connecting to two steel pipe piles. The boom is designed to be free floating at all times.
