PROJECT SCOPE & OBJECTIVES The WQL project, as described in this section, includes the planning, design, and construction of a new laboratory building adjacent to the Headworks Reservoirs. The WQL project will consolidate the work locations of several related functions, as well as include the following laboratory operations: • Microbiology • Chemistry • Science and Research • Chain of Custody / Laboratory Information Management System & Reporting • Sample Collection • Biology Control • Quality Assurance The new Water Quality Laboratory shall be comprised of a two-story building with an approximate footprint of 100,300 square feet with laboratory spaces, office spaces for up to 200 employees, and conference rooms. The facility shall also include parking for visitors and LADWP staff (200 employees), electric vehicle (EV) charging stations, landscaping, and site improvements. Laboratory spaces shall not be reduced to accommodate office spaces and parking for 200 employees. Site improvements include, but are not limited to: • Installation of utilities • Traffic lights, driveways, and sidewalk improvement along Forest Lawn Drive • Private roadway and fire access roads within site • Security system • Site grading and drainage
