3.1 GENERAL The boat shall be rated for both fresh and saltwater applications. 3.2 CONSTRUCTION/WORKMANSHIP AND MATERIALS 3.2.1 The equipment and any accessories of this boat shall be a product of good workmanship and shall be free from any defects that shall affect appearance or serviceability; including, but not limited to paint/metal free from scratches, securely fastened wiring and free from obstructions of all correctly installed hardware. 3.2.2 Steps and grab handles shall be provided in all necessary areas to provide safe access to controls and equipment for usage and maintenance. 3.2.3 Slip resistant material shall be provided on steps and decking where applicable, and in areas where potential hazards exist, appropriate cautions and warnings shall be displayed. In general, all pinch points, linkages, etc., which are exposed to the operator, crew or passengers shall have a guard or cover. 3.2.4 Using shims, liners, or sleepers shall not be permitted to correct improper fitting components. 3.2.5 All breaks shall be free of cracks. 3.2.6 All holes, unless otherwise noted, shall be round and the proper dimension as specified, perpendicular to the material they are produced in, and finished smooth. 3.2.7 Sharp corners on all material shall be rounded to prevent personnel injury. 3.2.8 If requested, the supplier shall submit proof of construction material properties and strengths. 3.2.9 Finished product shall be free of dents and warpage. The use of any type of body or filler of any type is unacceptable. 3.2.10 All hardware used on this boat shall be SAE-English units except for the engine which may be SAE-English or Metric. 3.2.11 All fasteners utilized on the boat shall be stainless-steel, marine-grade quality and appropriate for the application. 3.2.12 Bolt lengths shall be such that a minimum of two (2) threads shall extend beyond the fastening nut. 3.2.13 Nuts, not otherwise specified, shall be locking type. 3.2.14 Nuts and washers shall be compatible with the bolt(s) to which they are attached, as recommended by the fastener manufacturer and in accordance with ASTM and SAE standards. 3.2.15 All threads shall be coated with an anti-galling compound. If requested, the supplier shall submit proof of fastener strengths and shall be vigilante to avoid contact of dissimilar metals. 3.2.16 All hardware shall be through bolted and/or drilled and tapped utilizing marine-grade stainless machine screws. 3.2.17 All screws must be marine grade stainless steel. 3.3 HULL DESIGN ELEMENTS 3.3.1 Deep V-Bottom or Modified V-Bottom, heavy duty fiberglass hull. 3.3.2 Deck shall be watertight to reduce the possibility of the deck/hull from flooding. 3.3.3 Deck drains shall be incorporated to quickly clear water from the deck. 3.3.4 The design of the hull/deck shall cause water on the deck to drain off while the boat is unattended. The edges and corners shall be a smooth finish.
