A. The switch shall be sized such that the switch will fit the switch vault shown on Drawing CS431, Sheet 1. The switch must cover the vault opening so that no wire, guy or other object could be passed into the vault under the switch. - The switch bottom dimensions shall be more than 65" x 73" to cover vault opening. - The switch bottom opening shall be less than 66" x 74" to make sure that switch opening does not overlap vault and create a gap under the switch where wire or other object could be passed into the vault under the switch. - If the switch bottom opening exceeds the 66" x 74" dimensions, provide a way of covering the gap (provide details on specific way). (Consider that this covering should prevent the passing of wire or other objects into the vault under the switch and would not be weight bearing.) -If the switch overhangs the sides of the vault then the City will determine if electrical clearances can still be satisfied based upon detail arrangement drawings of the switch supplied by the manufacturer. B. Internal dimensions of the padmounted switches shall allow adequate clearances for ease of cable installation. The minimum bending radius for a 1100mcm cable shall be 12 times the cable diameter (24.1 inches.) Load break elbows shall attach easily to the bushing wells without undue stress created by cable bends. C. Height of the switch should not exceed 50 inches including any adaptor if required.
