1. Complete a Comprehensive Public Tree Inventory. Data fields for each tree must include, but are not limited to: a. Location – identify the location of each tree/site b. Species – trees are identified by genus or species using both botanical and common names c. Tree size/Trunk diameter d. Estimated height e. General observations warranting recognition f. Clearance Requirements – Pruning necessary to meet clearance standards over streets, sidewalks, driveways, structures, and streetlights are noted where branches are considered to be interfering with the movement of vehicles or pedestrians or where they are obstructing signs, streetlights, traffic lights, and traffic visibility site distance lines. Each clearance deficiency shall be noted in the inventory g. Overhead Utilities - The inventory indicates the presence of overhead utilities at the tree site and defines whether it includes Electricity or is Communications only. Also indicate whether tree is clear “cl”(>10ft of clearance) of utilities, not clear “ncl” (<10ft of clearance) or in contact “con” with electrical lines h. Space Size – The minimum width of growing space for root development is recorded i. Heritage and Protected Tree Status – Heritage and Protected tree status shall be noted in the inventory j. Photographs of each tree 2. Comprehensive Tree Risk Assessment and Condition Rating for each tree must include, but are not limited to: a. General condition and/or health of each tree (rated as Excellent, Good, Fair, Poor, Critical, Dead) b. Primary and Secondary Maintenance Recommendations – removal, tree trimming/pruning c. Hardscape Damage – Tree roots causing cracking or lifting of sidewalk pavement one half inch or more are noted Growing space – growing space locations are categorized as: rights-of-way, street tree easements, medians, parks, public facilities, grounds, parking districts, well/pit/planters, and other locations such as landscape/lighting districts...
